Urinary Tract Infection or commonly known as UTI is the most common bacterial infection. Almost 50% of women suffer from it. It is not just restricted to women, many males also suffer from it. But the bigger problem is that it is hidden by these people and is rarely discussed. So today, I am going to discuss it for these people.
UTI is just like any other infection which can easily be treated with antibiotics but there can be recurrence. So the only way to avoid these recurrence or also to prevent it is some modification in the diet and the magic is done.
Here are some food sources which are extremely beneficial to prevent this infection:
Cranberries are known to have fantastic effect in preventing UTIs as they contain compounds which inhibits the growth of Bacteria causing the infection.
Cranberries can be eaten as fresh cranberries, dried cranberries, cranberry juice and also there are are capsules available which can be popped when needed.
2. CITRUS FRUITS
Orange and grapefruit predominantly has a beneficial effect on people suffering from UTI. Recent studies showed that the juices of these fruits helped in preventing lower urinary tract infection.
These fruits can be eaten whole or yummy juices, sorbets, smoothies can be made from them.
In UTIs high intake of fluid is the key to overcome it. It helps in flushing of the bacteria causing the problem.
Fluid includes juices, buttermilk, milk, smoothies and lastly our favorite beverage WATER.
Those were the food sources which can liberally be used but there are always some restrictions which needs to be followed.

As much as we all love coffee, the fact that it has caffeine can not be ignored. High intake of caffeine is seen to cause progression of the disease and also enhances the symptoms of the infection.
2. CARBONATED BEVERAGES
Carbonated beverages are a part of fluid but these fluid strictly have to be avoided. These includes also those ‘diet’ carbonated beverages as well. They have also been associated with increasing the incidences of the infection.
