The benefits of this ingredients should be known by all of us. Yes, I am talking about curry leaves. The curry leaf, a green leafy vegetable, is grown all over India and other countries and is used as a spice everyday in small quantities for its distinct aroma, which makes it an ingredient in Indian cuisine.

- Anti-bacterial/Anti-fungal/Anti-protozoal effect-
The essential oils in curry leaves against various bacteria. Certain components of this ingredient have antimicrobial as well as mosquitocidal effect. this leaves have shown anti-fungal as well as anti-protozoal effect.
2. Anti-cariogenic effect-
The chlorophyll component of curry leaves has a function of preventing tooth decay. In many recent researches, it has been seen that chewing of curry leaves helps in maintaining good oral hygiene.
3. Used as a Preservative-
It has been observed that curry leaves can be used as a preservative. The proven benefit of this ingredient is that when added to certain food products, it helps in increasing the shelf-life of that product. Since, it has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial effect, it is also added in meat products as a preservative.

Recent studies have shown that curry leaves has certain component which helps in protecting the gastric mucosa which is the inner lining of the stomach from damage. Hence, it reduces the incidences of gastric ulcers and helps maintain a healthy gut.

1/2 tbsp chopped green chillies
1/2 tbsp roughly chopped ginger
10 curry leaves
1/4 tsp salt
Method of cooking
- Combine the curd, 1½ cups of water and salt in a deep bowl , mix well using a whisk. Keep aside.
- Combine green chilies, ginger, curry leaves and crush them coarsely using the pestle.
- Add this mixture to the whisked curds, mix well and cover it with a lid and keep aside for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Serve chilled.
